Award Winning Way of the Wharves

Way of the Wharves received the Devon History Society ‘Book of the Year Award’ in the Local History Society category for ‘A History of East the Water, Bideford’

The award was presented by Prof French in Exeter Library, at the Devon History Society AGM on Saturday 8th October.

Way of the Wharves Chair Mike Teare said ‘The charity is delighted to have received this prize. It is an acknowledgement of the teamwork that went in to collecting and putting together these stories about the maritime and industrial history of East the Water and Bideford. Coming on the back of our successful presentation at Appledore Book Festival we hope this means we can get the story of East-the-Water to an even wider audience.’

Copies of the award winning book ‘A History of East the Water, Bideford’ are available to purchase on the Way of the Wharves website. In Bideford from Walter Henry’s bookshop and The Burton and in Barnstaple from Waterstones.
